Description

The district of St. André was one of the earliest settlements in western St. Louis County. Founded in 1798 during Spanish territorial times, St. André was mostly populated by American military veterans from Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia, many who came to “Misuri” in the 1790s. Within a decade, these families were well established in the Wild Horse Creek and Bonhomme Creek valleys, operating mills, distilleries, churches, and schools. Whiskey, Rebellion, and Wildwood tells their story amid the backdrop of the Whiskey Rebellion. Second Edition, Published in 2018.
